Some of you may recall the correspondence Jim, Sandy and I had about this
John. We strongly considered that he was John H Cooley that was born
c1812, son of James. This could be him but if we take both age estimates
literally, it would not be.

Knowing John's birthplace would help since we know that none of these
Cooleys would have been born in MO before 1811. On the 1880 census, EC
gives his parents born in NC, which would point to someone other than John
H, James's son. But in subsequent census records, father is listed as
being born in MO. Personally, I'm more ready to accept the NC birth, but
we can't be sure.

EC and Milo appear to have had different mothers, leading us to consider
that John's first wife may have been Eliza Locke. Julia Ann is listed in
1880 with Martha with birthplace of VA. I think Martha may have been
married before she married John.

But we've been down this road before. In any case, I'm ever more convinced
that the John of Randolph county is Jim's John.
