BTW, tax list readings from Sandra Stanton give these listings for Joseph:

Washington County, KY

1797 Cooley, Joseph

Adair County, KY

1803, Cooley, Joseph, 310 acres, Goose Creek, 1 white male above 21, 5 horses

1804, Cooley, Joseph, 150 acres, Goose Creek, 1 white male above 21, 5
horses, 3 wheel carriage

1805, Cooley, Joseph, 100 acres, could not read where, 1 white male over
21, 1 horse.

1806, Cooley, Joseph, 1 white male over 21, 3 horses

1811, Cooley, Joseph, 1 white male over 21, 4 horses

Shirley Wilcox pointed out these, also for Adair county:

Adair Co., KY Tax Records 1802-1824

1802, Joseph Cooley, 150A, Goose Cr
  , Joseph Cooley, 160A, Goose Cr, 1 w m 21+, 3 horses

Adair county was formed from Green county in 1801. A Green county birth at
Goose Creek would, in fact, infer a birth before that date.

Has anyone looked at these?

Green County, Ky. Tax Lists 1795-1797, 1799-1823, 1827-1830, 1834 FHC

Green Co., Ky. Court Order Records Volume 1,4 1794-1817 (vols. 2-3 missing
1804-1814) FHC Microfilm # 0594483.

Green Co., Ky. Court Order Minute & Court Order Books Vol. 1 (2) 7
1794-1825 (volume 2 missing), FHC Microfilm #0822422.

Green Co., KY Marriages, 1793-1836, extracted by Ruth Perkins, assistant

Green Co., KY Deed Books

I probably have seen the Court Order Records.
