I guess that you didn't have to own land to be on the 1800 census...but why
was Rice Cooley listed separately?

Everyone....I've been meaning to write about Edmond for some time. I'd
like to merge the family into ours. We don't have the hardcopy record
stating the relationship, but we have that only for Reuben and James
anyway. But Edmond passes my three criteria: Name, place, and DNA match.
We're a bit weak on the place part because we can't find a record in
Stokes county with his name. But two factors pretty much satisfies that:
Edmond's appearance on a Spartanburg deed with Luke Barnett, and that
Edmond's wife's family was in Stokes County. These strongly infer Edmond's
residence in Stokes.
Any thoughts?
