So, everyone probably knows about my Y page:

http://ancestraldata.com/ahnentafel/256/lineages/johncooley-desc.html

This page was created as a tool to track down potential male Cooley
testers. Later, as I found I had trouble keeping track of some of the
matrilineal descendants, I started adding a few women. Lately, I've tried
to fill out all lineages to four generations--and I'm still working on it.

The source file is simple plain text, pretty much in the format that is
displayed. It's easy to edit and easy to move big chunks around. Several
years ago I wrote a tool to create a GEDCOM from it, which I uploaded to
worldconnect. When I next went to generate a new version, I accidentally
deleted the tool! And there it sat for years. It took another project to
write tool again. I did that yesterday. This has allowed ne to generate
lineages next to the pics on johncooley.net, for example:

Having this tool written, which simply creates an index, I can now go off
on any number of projects. But they will grow over time.

Most of you probably also understand that I'm always working a lot of
projects. Any attempt at behavioral modification has not helped. :) I get
hot on a idea and do a lot of development to get it off the ground. At
some point, I enter a maintenance mode for an extended period before
developing new features. I'm getting close to that point with this
project, particularly during the next few days as I'm giving a film
presentation next Wednesday and have barely started writing my 10-minute
essay (Well, it's mostly in my head.) So it will be work, work, work, as
usual, just a different project for awhile.

I pulled up johncooley.net on a kindle fire last night and found that the
scroll bar to the right of the photos didn't show. There was no way to
scroll down past the first two rows of pictures. Please let me know if you
see any such bugs. If you do, email you operating system (Mac, Windows,
Linux) and browser name and version you're using.

Back soon.
