Edward Cooley
Galesburg - Edward Cooley, 66, of 1401 Lancaster, died at 3:35 a.m. yesterday in
the emergency room of Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, Iowa.
He and a nephew were traveling through Keokuk, from Missouri, when he
apparently suffered a heart attack.
Born Dec 13, 1916, in Bucklin, Mo to Jessie and Rosa Reffett Cooley, he
first married Gwendda Admire.
He married Barbara Stancomb Dec 24, 1970, in East Galesburg, and she
survives, along with one son, David of Galesburg; two daughters, Gwendda
Gabbert of Lake Vilia and Frankie Luallen of Knoxville.
Also, surviving are three stepdaughters, Janet, Jerri and Joanna, all at
home; one sister, Mrs Francis Wall of Galesburg; and five grandchildren.
He worked at Admiral Division of Magic Chef 29 years, retiring in 1981.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Foley-Watson Mortuary, where
visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight. The Rev. Ray Aldridge will officiate and burial will be in Oak Lawn
Memorial Gardens.

George Cooley
PEORIA
Former Galesburg resident George
Cooley, 57, of Peoria was dead on arrival Saturday at 9:25 a.m. at Peoria
Proctor Hospital.
Born at Bevier, MO, Aug 10, 1911, he married Mary J McVey at Jackson,
Mississippi, May 1, 1946. Formerly a Galesburg bus diver, he was employed by
the Peoria City Bus Lines for 14 years and retired in February 1968. Cooley was
a member of Amalgamated Transit Union Division 416, and Northside Southern
Baptist Church.
Surviving besides his widow and a son, both of Peoria, are three
daughters, Mrs. Barbara Nigbor, Mrs. Beverly Thada, Mrs. Mary Thada, all of
Berlin, Wis; his mother of Galesburg; [rest of the obit is missing]

Funeral Rites For Joseph E Cooley At
Bevier Tomorrow
Funeral
services for Joseph E Cooley, 79, who died yesterday morning at the Samaritan
Hospital will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Edwards Funeral Home in
Bevier. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Ezra Coppin, pastor of the
Bevier Baptist Church, and burial will be in West Oakwood Cemetery.
The son of Jessie D and Nancy Jane Peterson Cooley, Mr. Cooley was born
Sept. 11, 1880 in Macon County. He lived his entire life in and near Bevier
where he had wowrked at most of the mines in the area. He was united in
marriage to Gertie Shearon on Oct. 24, 1909 and to their union five children
were born.
Survivors include his wife and daughter, Josephine, of the home, two
daughters, Pansy Marie Cooley of St. Joseph, Nellie May Cooley of Marshall and tow
sons, Pearly and Gerald Lee of Bevier. He also leaves one brother, G B Cooley
of Springfield, Ill.; two half sisters, Myrtle and Frankie, of Peoria, Ill;
four half brothers, John Willie, Chester, Wilbur and Eddie Cooley, all of
Galesburg, Ill; a step mother, Mrs Rose Cooley of Rio, Ill; one niece, Mrs.
Mary Carriker of Bucklin, two nephews, Delbert and Bernard Cooley of
Springfield, Ill and other relatives.
The body will lie in state at the Edwards Funeral Home until the hour of
the services.
