School's out for the semester and I'm ready to go off on another tangent
on this list. :)
I had a phone message from the descendant of Reuben Ransom Cooley. We just
might have to play phone tag for awhile. As a reminder, here's my
interest:
RR Cooley lived in the same area of Indiana that my Edward (son of John
Cooley) did. Edward had a brother and a son named Reuben, but RR is
neither one. He is said to have born in Washington County OH--where
William Henry Cooley was living. It's said that his family had come from
Birmingham England and lived in North Carolina before going to Ohio. The
clincher is that he was supposed to have had a brother who died at New
Orleans during the War of 1812. This could hardly be other than Cornelius
Cooley, who we *believe* was John's son.
There were at least three distinct Cooley groups in the
Bartholomew/Jackson/Washington counties area of Indiana during this time.
If RR belonged to either of them, test results will reveal that. I haven't
gotten a firm word yet from him, but we just might see some results in a
couple of months.
