I still haven't learned anything about the lineage of kit #239164, but
I've learned that the difference between 10 repeats and 13 repeats at
DYS439 is very significant. It makes the tester a genetic distance of at
least three from our modal (which matches the Perrin C Cooley results).
Furthermore, there's a distance of two at DYS464b. With the marker
difference at DYS576, that makes this tester a minimum of a genetic
distance of six from the testers in our clan. Despite all the matching
loci, he is unlikely to be a descendant of John's. But it makes his
lineage even more attractive as it points to a possible collateral
lineage.
So, what does this say about the descendant of James of Jack county TX
(born c1808/9 PA)? He matches with kit #239164 at all loci except for the
three at DYS439. With the two additional hits at DYS464b, James's
descendant is a distance of three from our modal. But he's also a distance
of three from faceless kit #239164. In other words, genetically speaking,
the James line is equidistant between Perrin C Cooley and the new guy. I'm
not sure what that says.
I'm meeting Greg Parker, the Cooley DNA Project admin, this weekend in DC.
Hopefully, he can she some light on this.
