I think she probably meant Sarah had uncles that may have been in trouble
with the law!!! So yes, Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Cooley Cornish was a
niece of Calvin's because Pleasant was Calvin's brother.
I am thinking Calvin died pretty young , if Kate Cooley married a William
Smith in May of 1886, just haven't found when and where he died.
also I did find a family tree on ancestry that says Calvin, the youngest
son of Mathias and Martha married a Mary Katherine Keller??? Katherine
certainly be a Kate? Hope one of your researchers friends will have the

That certainly sounds like the same Calvin--having a couple of older
brothers who were in trouble with the law. I'm not aware of a sister Sarah
Elizabeth, though. I see that Cecil was born in 1909. Perhaps Sarah
Elizabeth was a niece of Calvin's rather than a sister.
Let me know if you find further connections between Calvin and Mathias.
