For example, that Mike Cooley (Joseph--Mary's husband) has an "index" of
three means nothing. Specific rates of mutation can randomly vary along
specific lines and are only an indication of the degree of relatedness.

I also listed my dad's lineage because we have a difference of one
mutation. Curiously, the index remained the same. I'm not sure what that
means except that the higher the index the lower the rate of mutation.
Nine mutations over nine generations would give an index of 0.
