You may have heard that ancestry.com was the victim of a Distributed Denial
of Service Attack(DDoS) on Monday. This affected all their subsidiaries:
Find A Grave, rootsweb, genealogy.com, fold3. The last was up and running
the next day. Find A Grave finally was up yesterday. Rootsweb and
genealogy.com are still down. I can get into ancestry.com through my library
version.
The same thing happened to Evernote and Feedly the previous week. Facebook
was down a half hour this morning (during the night for you). Strange that
it is happening to all these sites that are used for genealogy.
Best wishes,
Cathy

Subject: Many genealogy websites are down
ancestry.com, rootsweb (worldconnect), and genealogy.com are all down. A
"whois" suggests that they are now owned by something called MarkMonitor
Inc.
Does anyone know what's happening?
