This is also a test email in part. Spam has been terrible lately and I've
had to crank up my filters. I just discovered that I haven't been getting
my ftdna email, so I thought I'd test with this.

There are no new test results for our group, but there have been some
interesting stuff, nevertheless.

The results for the New Jersey John Cooley/Abigail Lippincott line have
come in. Surprisingly, they match the William Cooley/Elizabeth Firmin
line. A test for another of the line is in the works. John was about the
same age as William. The test results could point to a collateral
relationship.

Test results for a second descendant of Samuel Coley (c1615-) of CT have
also come in. They don't match the results for the first tester! This may
be the first time I've seen this happen. But there are two interesting
points:

The first tester, who did only 12 markers, has only 6 matches throughout
the entire ftdna database. That might have been expected when Don and I
tested but some of the Cooley clans have literally hundreds of matches.
I'm half of the opinion that his line had origins in a non-Cooley line,
but it's too early to know.

The second point is that the new tester is a near match to the Benjamin
Cooley line. He has three DYS values, however, that are different from any
other tester in the Benjamin clan. Because of the volatility of STRs, that
might not mean much, but it could mean that Samuel and Benjamin were of
closely collateral lines. At least one more tester is needed in order to
make a determination.

Finally, descendants of "our" Daniel Cooley came to Humboldt County from
Oregon early on. My attempts to reach anyone via facebook has been for
naught. However, I found a phone number for a Cooley and just talked to
his wife. It sounds like he is of the Daniel line. I'll talk to him
tomorrow. I We may have an answer to that one in a couple of months. :)
