Still waiting for L448 SNP
I had to send in another kit to ftdna. They said it would go on the fast
track, but I'm still waiting.
It turns out that I was wrong about 23andme testing for M417--the
designator for R1a1a1. According to Tim Fichtner, facebook 23andme
"friend," "23andMe is using a 2010 Y-Tree, and what they're testing, M56,
and calling that R1a1a1, has now been categorized as a 'private SNP' and
no longer on the current Y-SNP tree." He suggests testing through the Nat
Geo's Geno 2.0. Even FTDNA's Y-tree, he says, is two years outdated.
And I learned that the transfer from 23andme to ftdna includes only
Relative Finder--the autosomal DNA results. The Y SNPS and mtDNA (I'm
H1a1, according to 23andme) are not included.
Apart from my own L448 test, I'm waiting for the results for the
descendant of John Cooley of Franklin Co, NC, and for the matrilineal
descendant of Joseph Cooley's first wife. Still looking for a
Cooley/Hardin descendant willing to test.
