He had obviously separated from the family for some reason by 1870. It
could be him. There were at least two families in the household in 1870.
Perhaps one of the surnames will match up. In any event, John W's marriage
record makes the connection certain. I did see one page on worldconnect
that lists John among S B's children.

It seems that William died in Jersey county IL in 1877. Jersey county was
the home of James (of Jack county TX) c1850.

So, I'm now wondering this: Could William b 1797 be a grandson of our
John, who was born about 60 years earlier, and was James of Jack county
William's brother? Finding the next generation up will be tough. But it
could be sitting right in front of us. For example, I had long known about
Cooley/Havens but never seriously considered our line might connect.
