The Joseph Cooley living with the Fields in 1860 was probably the son of
Cornelius. He's not listed as a child of the family, but was probably a
live-in field hand, just as we'd d find with any community member. That
there may have been some kind of in-law relationship was probably more
coincidental than anything else.

Arthur Kiergan states that his half brothers did not have children. But
Joseph might have been married. It would be worth keeping an eye open for
it.
